Turning Point

I got out for my walk on Wednesday morning, beating the rain. What I did not beat was the influenza bug. By Wednesday evening I was not feeling very well at all, and I had a low grade fever, at least that is when I first took my temperature. I had come down with influenza. Yesterday was a real challenge. I drank two litres of cranberry juice and lots of water over the course of the day, in spite of having slept most of the day away. I did not eat much, but I did manage to get down a few oatmeal muffins and some vegetable soup. I know I am sick if I sleep during the day, and I don’t want my dinner!

This morning I felt somewhat better, and indeed I am no longer running a temperature. I still don’t want my dinner, but I am making myself eat meals anyway. Keeping up the fluids, water and cranberry juice, isn’t so difficult.

The real pleasure today was being able to take a shower!

The only household task I have extended myself to perform has been to clean the kitty litter. Some things just must be done, as Diesel will attest to.

The newspaper has been sitting at the end of the driveway since yesterday morning, and there it will stay for at least another day. I have no intentions on venturing outside until this bought with the flu is well and truly over. I will know it is over when my taste buds are back on track, the headache is completely gone, and I don’t need to nap during the day. Only one nap so far today, so things are looking up!

I wonder if that headache you had that you attributed to your too-long bangs was really a precursor to this bug? It’s awful being sick and being alone at the same time. Sorry you’ve had this – whatever bug it is. No one in our house has had flu for probably 20+ years. I think I had it once in all the years we’ve lived here (29) and Paul maybe once also – and he got it the morning I was to fly to Florida to help with my sick mother! We had to call his best friend to drive me into the airport as Paul was vomiting nonstop! Ugh… I figured I’d catch it while I was traveling, but I never did…

Pick up time can wait until you’re feeling a bit better, though I’m sure Diesel cannot. 😉

I found myself thinking that it might be more likely that you picked up your bug simply because you’d gone to a medical facility, where people bring in all kinds of bugs all the time.

Glad you’re on the mend!

I hope you get well soon! Keep taking good care of yourself.

LOL! Has it really been that long? Okay, my mistake. No it doesn’t hang on that long. Usually about 72 hours before you start to show symptoms is when you acquire the flu.
