Happy Holidays to all, and since I celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas!
We are having a quiet day here at Mist Cottage. Attila is the chief cook today (turkey dinner), as I was the chief baker yesterday (mincemeat squares), one oven, so we each have our day with an available oven. We gave each other a jigsaw puzzle for Christmas, and will start one of them today as part of our celebrations.
We will enjoy a quiet day, including a long walk, and later a Christmas movie, this year it will be A Christmas Story.
Ginger, well Ginger thinks this is indeed a special day. The wrapping paper was crumpled and placed on the floor for him, he loves a wee bit of change and adventure in his life!
Wishing everyone the very best that the holiday season has to offer!

It sounds like you, Attila, and Ginger had a lovely Christmas. Good!
We went to YoungerSon and partner’s place to celebrate and have Christmas dinner. We’d expected the 3 new great grandchildren to be there but the new 8 month olds had picked up a bug, so we didn’t get to see the greats or the grandchildren. We did however get to meet YS’s partners 2 youngest for the first time. They were good, mannerly kids and we enjoyed our time with the family.
Dinner wasn’t as lavish as my childhood Christmases with my grandparents’ extended family bringing all kinds of things but we had a charcuterie for appetizers, a turkey with gravy, dressing and mashed potatoes, a broccoli salad, and mixed veggies, and rolls. Oh, and we brought DH’s triple chocolate cherry and coconut cheesecake. (It used to have almond instead of coconut but I’ve gotten sensitive to almonds this last year, so we avoid them now.)
All in all, it was a very pleasant visit with YS’s new family (they’ve been living together about a year now) and a lovely Christmas.
Teri, your Christmas sounds wonderful! Great to see the extended family! Childhood memories of Christmas are very special, we are so lucky to have them!
Wishing you both a Merry Christmas and hoping 2026 brings you contentment and fulfillment in the year’s endeavours. We had both an exhausting and rewarding Christmas Day as we had 11 friends and family for dinner. Today we refused to see anyone and started on our Boxing Day puzzle by the wood stove. Bliss!
Wishing you the very best of the Holiday Season Sandra and loved ones! Your Christmas sounds lovely, a dinner for 11 plus yourselves is a true labour of love. Enjoy your puzzle!
