Hair!!

Some days I am extremely busy avoiding what I don’t like doing. It can occupy all of my time. Today is one of those days.

Today I am avoiding the shower. I hate dealing with my hair.

I dislike hair wrapping itself around my fingers as I wash or rinse my hair.

I dislike collecting all the hair that falls from my head during a shower, which is even more difficult now that some of it is white.

I dislike having a wet head for hours and hours and hours. In the winter wet hair becomes a factor in when I can venture outside the house.

I dislike needing to wear a hat while my hair is still wet, my hair behaves badly when interacting with hats. In the summer I need to wear a hat when out walking, so that wet hair is a factor in trying to schedule a walk.

There is no part of caring for my hair that I do like.

I’ve thought of getting my hair cut short. But every attempt has failed, the hair cuts have been consistently incredibly bad (except for my sister’s cuts), and incredibly expensive (except for my sister’s cuts). The result is that a haircut has become another activity that results in me being extremely busy trying to avoid it.

Attila just shakes his head at this dilemma. Attila has short hair, and a bit of baldness, so hair cuts are easy and straightforward, as is hair washing and drying.

You would think after all the decades I’ve been an adult, making my own hair decisions, that I would have this figured out.

But I haven’t figured it out.

Unless I count being busy avoiding it as figuring it out.

Where are the appliances that let you choose a style, put your head in the right position, push a button, and the whole process is handled efficiently and to order?

I will close here, because I’ve embarrassed myself, and feel I need to have that shower, now!
