The day dawned crisp and sunny, it was 5C went we went out for our walk. It is warmer now though, mid-afternoon, so the windows are wide open.
Mom is doing super after her knee surgery, it is healing amazingly well. We went to visit her on Saturday, enjoyed visiting with her, and didn’t let her get much rest! We stayed a night with sister S, and had a lovely visit with S and her partner C. Sister B was at the hospital visiting Mom while we were there, so we got to see her too. We visited Mom again on Sunday.
I hated to leave, only because I wanted to spend more time with Mom. She is in good hands all round, so no worries there.
Yesterday I had an appointment to test the nerves in my arm, the pinkie went to sleep mid-August 2025 and is still sleeping. The tests showed slight improvement, no surgery recommended thank goodness, and another test some months from now.
Today we are canning garden tomatoes. Attila says there are a lot more tomatoes out there, so I think there will be a few more tomato canning sessions over the next week or so.
I am sitting here listening to Attila make noise. He is making a salad in the kitchen. What a wonderful thing it is, to here his activity in the next room. So simple, yet so magnificent.

We haven’t quite caught up to you with low temps. Our lowest so far was Monday morning, a low of 7.0/45F.
I’m all about men who enjoy making food! DH enjoys cooking and baking, plus he works off tensions of the day that way, so I just let him cook when he wants to.
Glad to hear your mom is doing better and better! Easy healing is a good thing as you get older.
I think the lake effect is stronger where you are situated Teri, so temperatures there are mediated by the westerlies and the huge water body.
I find it quite wonderful that Attila loves to cook. When we were first together I thought he did it just for me! In reality it was for me, but not just for me, he also likes his cooking better than mine, and he likes to experiment with food. The garden and the kitchen are his happy places.

It’s so true, that the life noises people around us make are a comfort and often a pleasure to hear. While I do many happy dances throughout each time I’m left alone here for a week or more, I appreciate the daily household doings when we’re both home. -Kate
Kate, I enjoy me time, and I enjoy we time. I have difficulty with the transition between the two, and I have yet to figure out why.
I remember visiting a couple years ago. The male partner was fascinated with kayaking on Georgian Bay, felt they were up against the force of nature. I find people the real challenge, the real force of nature in my universe. So many currents and winds to navigate with fellow humans.
