November Gifts!

It is November, and the weather is quite wonderful. Over the last few days we have been offered sunshine, rain, overcast skies, mild breezes, and warm temperatures for this time of year. Wednesday’s high was 22C, amazing.

Attila continues to bring produce in from the garden, although the variety and quantity are diminishing. The lettuce is the most surprising to me, these are plants grown from roots, nurtured from store bought lettuce that is sold with the roots intact. It is very hardy, and delicious. The strawberries, although still coming in, are not really very high quality at this point. The ground cherries are still golden and sweet. The beets and parsnips are delicious! And today Attila harvested broccoli again, enough for yet another batch of Cream of Broccoli Soup Base. The garden makes a huge difference to our food bills.

Attila just processed another 3 ½ litres of peeled crushed garden tomatoes. There are more green tomatoes ripening in the basement.

The Kobo has seen much use over the last few months. The latest book was a struggle. The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong. Very well written, a good story. Although I found it profoundly perturbing, it also captured me, and I could not let go. I had to finish this book. I won’t tackle any of the other books this award winning author has written. Lets just say the word gladness in the title is surely tongue in cheek.

Today I learned a new thing! I strongly dislike writing assistive technologies, such as auto-correct, unrequested spell check, AI suggestions. It occurred to me to do a little poking around to see if I could turn some of it off, make it go away. And I found a way to do that on the MacOS!

What a relief it is!!!

Another project I tackled today was to finish rearranging my clothing cupboard. I found two pairs of pants, both over 25 years old, that are still too small for me, and a few items that haven’t every been used. These items will be donated to the charity shop. Now all my summer clothing is tucked away, and the winter clothing is out where it will be handy.

Mom is doing well, still in hospital, but up and about. What a smile she has, like sunshine.

“Tao. Some of us look for the Way in opium and some in God, some of us in whiskey and some in love. It is all the same Way and it leads nowhither.”
