Today is warm and sunny! This is very unusual at this time of year, almost unprecedented. The windows are open and it is grand!
The weather people say that it will be colder after today.
Still coming in from the garden, strawberries (green with a tinge of red, not sweet but very strawberry tasting), lettuce, parsnips, celery, kohlrabi, and beets. Attila covers the beds at night to protect them from frost and freezing, but that activity will soon end as the last of the produce comes in for the season.
Before our first frost Attila harvested all of the green tomatoes, weeks and weeks ago. He placed them in coolers, with ice packs. They have ripened very nicely that way, and we have been using them to make spaghetti sauce for our suppers, or dinners depending on how you look at them.

So far we have been using them to make spaghetti sauces, and diced fresh on our green salads.
There are Roma, Sicilian Saucer, and Beefsteak tomatoes.
I’ve been busy the last few days catching up in the kitchen. Yesterday I baked two dozen Chocolate Zucchini Muffins, but used shredded apple, as zucchini season is over for this year. Today I ground batches of cashew and dates, to add to my morning yoghurt. I also made a batch of salad dressing for myself. It is made a litre at a time, using the brine from a jar of Cowboy Candy as a flavour base. I’ve had the kitchen to myself today, a rare event now that Attila is retired!
Attila is pruning trees at Mist Cottage. This comes naturally to him, as he managed two very large apple farms for many years. It is a fine day for pruning trees.
I am fully recovered from whatever bug we had, Attila still experiences some lung congestion. Flu and Covid shots were taken last week, both at the same time, in the same arm. We had runny noses, a bit of swelling at the injection site, it wasn’t uncomfortable.
I have four more medical appointments before Christmas, that keeps me busy, there are always things to prepare, forms to fill in, for those visits.
We are wishing our US Citizen friends and relatives peace and prosperity, as the political situation they are dealing with evolves. It seems that humans almost everywhere on planet earth are having a challenging time of some kind right now.

Hi Maggie. We’re having very similar weather. This has been a beautiful Autumn. Our election results yesterday blew me away. I was hoping Democrats would take control of the House. They exceeded expectations by winning control of both the House and the Senate! Now the question is can the Democrats show that they’ve been listening to the complaints about high food prices, gas prices, and the unpopular war in Iran and do something to address those problems? I haven’t seen this level of hope and enthusiasm by people in a long time. I just hope the Democrats and others don’t blow this huge opportunity. Sorry about the political thoughts 🙁
Sandy, we have had beautiful autumn weather, haven’t we!
Your election is of great importance in your life, in the lives in your community, and in your country. Your election results affect Canada indirectly, politically, and through our concern and good wishes for all the wonderful people who live in the United States of America.
I think it appropriate that you express your political thoughts here at this time, I appreciate your cautious hope and enthusiasm, and I think they are appreciated and celebrated by most Canadians.
It will be hard work to bring things back into balance, for all of us, perhaps that hard work can begin!
