For the last number of months I have been exposed to toxic doses of unkindness. This whole business of my allergy and having to wrangle for my own safety, with the surgeon, with the surgeon’s office, with the anaesthetist, only to have my surgery cancelled at the “last minute”, was one unkind interaction after another, it went on and on and on.
Today, as part of my recovery, the kind good wishes for my Mom moved me to tears. Sincere well wishes are so precious, and at times they are rare.
So thank you for the well wishes. My Mom appreciates them, and I find I really really needed to experience their beauty.

I hope both you and your mother (and Attila) get better and better news! *hugs*
Thank you Joan for your well wishes*hugs*!
Aw, hon! No one should ever be so sad that such a simple thing brings them to tears. I’m so sorry you were feeling that way. *hug*
I hope this week will have both you and your mom feeling better and better.
Thanks Teri for your kind words! *hug*
The tears indicate that I am decompressing from the fight or flight state, with a little help from my friends!
Hi Maggie. They cancelled the surgery? On no – why? I hope they reschedule soon. Love and hugs, Sandy
Sandy, there are blog entries that go into the details, it was traumatic for me and Attila. Basically the hospital anaesthetist would not review the medications for safety, questioned the allergy, referred me to an allergist (probably a two year wait time), and cancelled the surgery two days before it was scheduled. I am exploring options, which will take some time.
Just to note the allergist can do nothing for me, there are no tests for this type of anaphylaxis in Canada, according to the federal government website, medical websites, and my lengthy experience.
Maggie, I’m so sorry. That’s so heartless on the part of the anesthetist. Do you have any hospitalizations or outpatient testing that discuss the allergy, anaphylaxis and other conditions? In the US we’re seeing so many delayed doctor’s appointments for all levels of conditions. Healthcare has become detached from care and compassion.
Thank you Sandy for your kind thoughts!
It is a heartless system, but I believe I happened upon some exceptionally uncaring individuals who chose not to “do the kind thing”, quite the opposite. The schism between true care and compassion, and what is called health care is widening and applying to more and more and more people, as you have observed. So sad to see this!
Sandy, there is no testing in Canada for this type of anaphylaxis. My condition was discovered when I went into anaphylactic shock, I was told I will probably die if exposed again. Medical records from that time period are not available. This is an endless loop for me, until I find compassionate care. I must hold out hope that it exists here, somewhere.
