Loud Noises

Today we said goodbye to another tree!

Hydro showed up with all the equipment needed to dismember and grind to little bits a beautiful tall maple tree. Sigh. Another one bites the dust. It resided in the front yard across the street from us, I will miss it.

The hydro crew continues, now lopping off branches and chipping them, up and down the street. Thankfully no more trees are being taken down, just pruned. We do not have any trees interfering with hydro lines, so our remaining trees are safe, at least from the hydro company.

Chain saws and powerful chippers are very loud!

Still, it is lovely day, and I am grateful for the open windows.

Quote

“I’m not unhappy about becoming old. I’m not unhappy about what must be. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more.”
Maurice Sendak
1928 – 2012
September 20, 2011, Interview with Terry Gross, Host of Fresh Air

I can really, really, really relate to Mr. Sendak’s sentiment!

I also relate to Sendak’s quote. We’ve lost so many friends and neighbors… (Of course this is a 55+ community, which increases the chance of neighbor loss, but….)
