This morning it was very, very cold outside. To make it much, much worse, the wind made it feel 10C colder than it actually was. After some discussion, the daily walks were cancelled. It snowed last night, and the roads were white with packed snow, which is slippery. That would slow walking considerably, and result in being outdoors for a much longer period of time due to poor footing. It was just too cold out there to spend time walking. The risk of frostbite is very real today.
The temperature has risen over the course of the day, but not enough to make recreational walking a good idea.
Tomorrow offers no relief. The predicted morning temperature is -24C, with a wind chill of -33C. Again, with the tricky footing, recreational walking is not practical.
We did manage a walk today though, cruising every aisle of the grocery store. Of course, this resulted in spending money, but the items purchased would have eventually been purchased anyway, so nothing has been lost.
I think many people, me included, are tired to the bone of the severe cold!
The weather people indicate that the temperature will start to rise this coming week. I do hope their predictions are correct!

Our weather is much milder than yours in temperatures and snow/ice amounts, but it seems that the effects are very similar since we’re not adapted to it. I’ll be so glad when I can walk in our neighborhood again. Maybe next week.
My sympathies to you on that extreme cold! I hope you’re at least cozy and entertained.
Wendy, the effects are what count it seems, hoping we here, and you there, are soon able to take a comfortable stroll out of doors! Next week sounds great!
Joan, we are quite cozy, thank you for your kind wishes! We have much to keep us entertained, books, streaming videos (currently All Creatures Great and Small), jigsaw puzzles (currently an oldie but goldie from the 60s, a rural Vermont scene), good food, our health, and good company!
