An Interesting Start To The New Year!

Viruses and bacteria, visitors that are mostly unwelcome. Sometimes they are very welcome, but that is not part of this story.

Attila started feeling a bit off on Wednesday, but insisted he was up to going for our usual one mile walks during the day.

Thursday, New Year’s Day, he still felt a bit off, I noticed that he was coughing a lot, and had low energy. He insisted he was fine, and we went for our usual one mile walks during the day.

After our walk Thursday evening, Attila developed a fever, his cough worsened and he felt chilled and terrible. He went to bed early, and was no better this morning. The fever has persisted all day, he has a bad cough, chills, and a headache.

We have had all our shots, the most recent Covid and flu vaccinations, and the RSV vaccination. Attila thinks he has the new strain of influenza that is going around, rather than Covid or RSV.

It is probable he ran into the virus at the pharmacy when he picked up his prescription on Monday. I did not accompany him into the store, and I have not had any symptoms, but for a slightly scratchy throat.

I went for a brisk one mile walk this morning by myself. Attila is not going out into the cold today, he is taking it easy, napping from time to time, and drinking lots of fluids.

I am keeping an eye on him, and if I think there is any sign of danger he will be packed up and driven to the emergency department at the hospital. So far he seems to be weathering it well.

I sure hope I don’t come down with this bug!

Fingers crossed. Rest up, Attila!

Sorry to read about this. Best wishes to Attila for a quick recovery and to you, Maggie, that you get to dodge this disease.

They had on the news about how the flu is going around this season. I hope its siege in your household is a brief one. Take good care!

Looks like Attila and I had similar bad luck. I hope he’s feeling more like himself!

Me, once again I’m trying to get back to normal eating, as I had the stomach flu. Fortunately, not the hated norovirus, which is particularly nasty on the digestive system.
