I recently had an appointment with my GP, they are Attila’s GP as well. We are truly blessed to have this professional as our health care practitioner. Today I received a letter from them that was written with such intelligence, humility, and integrity, that I almost cried. It is a great combination of personal traits for a doctor of any kind to have. There are professionals in health care from around the world with these traits, that I have had the honour of interacting with, and what a privilege it has been.
Now I wait for an appointment with the next specialist, and will follow all of the advice given to me by my GP, and the specialist I saw last week. I will see where this takes me.
This morning Attila is making more vegetable broth. I would like to pressure can 18 500 ml jars of broth. To that end we will thaw some of the previously frozen broth and add it to whatever was made yesterday and today, to make 18 jars. The canner will hold 19 jars at once.
A little later… the day is winding down. The broth canning project ended up yielding 16 jars of broth, fingers crossed they all seal. And there is more room in the freezer now that the vegetable scraps have been processed as intended.
Looking around the kitchen, I realized the flour jars are almost empty, it will soon be time to mill more flour. The jars of broth canned today will need to be washed and labelled and stored on the canning shelves tomorrow. Every day these projects present themselves, some days are busier than others, but all days have something that needs doing. We are a “if you don’t cook, there will be nothing to eat” household. We only have ingredients here, and we never eat out. So we cook every day.

I doubt that many humans currently alive have experienced the kind of silence available to people of William Penn’s era.
Even at our house, there is only silence when the electricity goes out. Only then can I hear the house talking to me.
Maggie, after all the years you struggled to get proper healthcare, I’m so glad you’re finally getting it.
Thank you Wendy for your kind wishes! We are so relieved to have this GP!
Attila says that if the GP moves (they are young) then we should consider moving to where they set up their new practice, and I agree.
I too am glad you’ve got a good GP (they call them PCPs here “Primary Care Physicians”).
I hope they stay in your area a long, long time.
I’m so excited! Our newly 3-legged dog Skye (about 5 weeks post-surgery) played, today! She was happy when we got home from grocery shopping and I was talking to her excitedly. She ran to get a wubba kong squeaky and was squeaking it and ran down the hall. Our younger, smaller dog Loki ran after her and grabbed the legs of the toy, and they started tugging back and forth!
This is the first time she’s done that since the surgery. And even better, with only one front leg she was able to have a tug of war without losing her balance!
Thank you Joan! It would be lovely is this GP decides to settle down here permanently!
Teri, that is great news about Skye. It is so wonderful when loved ones are happy and having a good time.
