Today is a sick day; I began to feeling not quite myself yesterday. Nausea, abdominal cramps, hot and cold sweats, shortness of breath… no fever. Luckily the air conditioner was installed in the bedroom window last night and I am able to sit in a relatively cool room with low humidity. The symptoms get worse when I venture out into the rest of the house, so I don’t. Still drinking copious amounts of water. Eating is extremely unpleasant, so not doing much of that. I have never been able to physically tolerate heat and humidity, and as I get older I have less tolerance; a fact, not a complaint.
Attila called to touch base in the afternoon. Although it is unfortunate that others are suffering as I am, the news that some of the people he works with are suffering the same symptoms is a bit of a relief. It isn’t just me, or my age, other people are finding the extreme weather is taking a toll on their health.
Thunder and rain visited this morning. The temperature is still 27C in the house, the humidity is around 83%, it is very unpleasant. The temperature outdoors is lower than indoors, as is the humidity, so the windows are open.
Terra is not feeling well right now, she has an infection and is on antibiotics.
Attila’s skin is healing, almost miraculously! The tepid baths, followed by the application of coconut oil are doing the trick. The itching is now minimal, despite the current heat wave. Sweet relief for him; and I have my Attila, the man I know and love, back again.
The heat wave has had adverse effects on all of us, to varying degrees.
Tomorrow is the last day predicted to be uncomfortably hot and humid. So just today and tomorrow to get through, and two more nights of misery to maneuver.

Hang in there, Maggie. I saw a news item yesterday which showed firefighters immersing their forearms in ice-cold water for minutes at a time. It keeps their body temperature down to manageable levels.

How awful! I empathize…not much to do, except ride it out. I hope you recover soon. 27C…the mind boggles!
How fortunate I am to live in the land where central air is the norm. It was 90F+ today with humidity above 80% so I know how that feels.
Our two window AC units are doing yeoman’s work this month for us, big time! I would be way down and out if I had to live in this heat, but Paul is out in it every day. I wish he’d take a day off now and then! Going to 100 F here today in New England, not something I am looking forward to.
Glad the coconut oil is working so well for Atilla. It is a miracle oil… truly.
I remember a friend telling me that when she lived in Minnesota, during a heat wave, the weather report predicted a further few days of heat and humidity, and she broke down and wept. I can understand that! Seems like eastern North America is in the grips of this heat and humidity, I think that if it were not for air conditioning the hospitals would be very busy right now!
Hang in there! When our A.C. was out, it got to 98F (37C) in the house. I escaped to work while poor Julia cooked, waiting for the repairman. I’m so glad the coconut oil is helping Attila.
