I think I am back. After staying up until almost 3:00 a.m. working on recovering from the damage the hackers caused, then rising early this morning to tackle the project again, I think I am up and running. If you notice anything weird, please let me know.
I don’t know if this successful hack attack was a personal attack, or a random hacker attack exploiting one of the many weaknesses that exist on web sites. If it is a personal attack, shame on you, karma will get you either in this life, or when you are beyond the advantages you now possess. If it was a random hacker, well, welcome to the internet.
Hot and muggy here today, I did not spend much time out of doors. I did poke my nose out a few times, just long enough to decide, nope. One of my forays was to a local discount food store, to pick up a bag of milk for Attila (I am lactose intolerant, none for me), and four 2 kg bags of mixed vegetables that were on sale. The vegetables are a key ingredient in my Instant Pot recipe repertoire.
Although the weather is cloying, I feel cleansed for having my meloncholy interlude yesterday. The world is often refreshed by a little bit of rain.
I am kinda tired. Working that intensely on the computer is never fun, and when it involves fighting to hang on to your own creations it is even more intense. I think I’ll do my tried and true dinner tonight, Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice & Mixed Vegetables. My recipes say serves 4, but in reality there are two helpings at dinner, one for Attila, one for me, and one helping to pop in the refrigerator for Attila’s second supper, which he eats late every evening, or sometimes during the night.

I am impressed at how much you use your instant Pot. I am still terrified of mine. When I was a little girl my grandma’s pressure cooker exploded and I have been afraid of them ever since. When I use mine I won’t go near it until it turns off!
Thanks Diane, this Instant Pot is a game changer at my house! I don’t need to start dinner until after Attila arrives home, then it cooks while he unwinds with a nap or a cigarette break, whatever suits.
Yes, the hacker attack was a misery. It isn’t my first, but is my worst yet.
Teri, once I discovered it the site was up and down and up and down, then down for quite a while, and finally up and running normally. If it was a personal attack, then really, really? Get a life, as my daughters used to say. But it is most likely an attack at random, the underworld searching for an invisible army of compromised computers and sites from which to launch bigger and better acts of hostility.

The Instant Pot commands respect! You could hurt yourself with it, if you didn’t use it right, but I will say it is much more difficult to make a mistake with than the manual pressure cookers. I find it quite easy to use, after reading the manual carefully to make sure I knew just how to use it… it isn’t a tool to fiddle around with to see how it works, it needs to be understood before turning it on. I don’t do much quick release, I just let it cool down on its own. It is really much easier to deal with than a manual pressure cooker!
I was not allowed to view your site without a user name and password which I did not hove. I missed reading your writings immensely. My new email will not allow me to change for notifies but I had your site saved and suddenly they were gone! Sorry for the hack so much hassle for them to probably gain nothing. If you can put me on your notify list with new email please do so.
I read your entry yesterday with no problem, and this one today the same. Did receive a message from WordPress, though, that my site has had a large spike in traffic. Maybe it’s a bot attack and related to what happened on your site too. Darned if I know. -Kate

Kate, it is a jungle out there! Who knows what lurks in the minds of some, dark regions for sure. I think the wordpress.com server is pretty well monitored for security, so hopefully it won’t amount to any great distrubance for you. I think trolls target certain people at different times, just for sport. John Bailey had a terrible time with a US university student who stalked and tormented him online, didn’t slow John down though!

I’m so glad you’re back. I’d like to be on the mailing list, I tried before but Yahoo eats them???? That meal sounds like something we’d eat. Only instead of “sweet and sour”, we buy chutney sauce to put on the chicken after it’s cooked.
