It was good news about the bill from the garage for the car maintenance! The bill was under $100, so we are good to go there. The new tires for the car were ordered today, but they won’t be installed for at least another week. Hopefully Attila won’t run into too much bad weather and bad roads before they get installed.
All my websites were checked as to the viability of plugins and themes, after the WordPress upgrade. Nothing jarring going on there, thank goodness.
It has been a quiet Saturday here, sunny and oh so cold. Attila opted to spend his day working in the basement, rather than in the garage. It is much warmer in the basement. He is making some progress in insulating the rim joists, but there is still a long way to go. There is a lot of stuff down there, and he has to move a lot of it to get near the rim joists.
I continue to organize the kitchen, a job which is getting easier and easier. Today it was sorting through herbs and spices, putting them in jars, labelling, and then finding places to store them. The chaos is beginning to retreat!
Tonight’s dinner was prepared, once again, in the Instant Pot. Attila requested Spicy Orange Chicken with Rice and Vegetables. Tomorrow we are splurging and I will prepare a Pork Roast in the Instant Pot, served with potatoes, carrots and turnip. I’ve taken a bit of a break from preparing meals from vintage foods. The supply of vintage foods is diminishing, so I am having to get more creative.
Although we will not see the Grandbabies until after Christmas, we have been busy finding very inexpensive, but colourful and entertaining, gifts for them. They are growing up fast, the twins Imp and Elf are 12 years old, soon they will be teenagers. The youngest, Willow, will be five months old at Christmas.

Kate, it is amazing how fast the time goes by! Children have a way of bringing the passage of time into sharp focus.
Wow! That’s an amazing bill for a car repair! I don’t think we’ve ever had a bill for under $300.
Well, on my package front I got an email today saying my package was “out for delivery”. Looking closer, that means it should be here on the 11th. And they tried to tell me in the email that standard delivery was the week that it will be by that time. Um, no! Standard delivery is 1 day from Mississauga.
Mind you, it’s not the time it took so much as the fact that they lied about it.
Teri, the garage we take our vehicles to is amazing. I discovered it when I was living here alone that winter, and Tank would not start. CAA came and then said the battery service wasn’t available in my area, so couldn’t help me. The fellow was local and as an aside said try this garage, I did, and the fellow who owns it is on of those rare honest men. We never even ask how much when we take it in, and even if it needs more work than we agreed to, he knows we will agree to it, so he goes ahead and does it, and we always happily pay the bill. One in a million. I knew we were in trouble with Tank when he said he couldn’t handle the job! And he was right, it was a huge job to repair Tank.
It is an injury of sorts that your package didn’t arrive as promised, but it is adding insult to injry when the they lie to you about it. What a business model they are working from!
My Mom’s package arrived on Thursday, only a few days late. We have Amazon Prime and I find their delivery better than that of small companies, who don’t get the same kind of service from delivery companies.
Well, yay! Turns out “out for delivery” did mean today. The package came just a shortwhile ago, on a Sunday. Still, they did lie in saying it was within Standard Delivery time.
