Back at Work

Attila and I returned to work yesterday after a wonderful holiday. We ate our Christmas dinner with my sisters, brother and Mother and their families via Skype. Not perfect but very, very heartwarming. On Boxing Day Luna and Janus and the grandbabies and granddogs arrived, as did Terra and Lares (which was a surprise, the visit was a gift from Lares to Terra for Christmas). We had a marvelous time, with lots of down time too to sleep and rest and catch up with things around the house.

We returned to our full time jobs yesterday. I think I am working for the Grinch, as he complained nonstop all day about Christmas and lamented its existence and stated that he would be glad when the holiday is over. He is the boss, sets the tone, what a misery to himself and others. I am home now!!!!!!

Today I am working at my part time job and my co-worker will be one of the nicest women I’ve ever met. I am a little nervous about my lack of fitness, after sitting at a desk for eight months at my day job, but I have my painkillers and my back brace with me, so all will be well. I am really looking forward to today!

It is really, really cold out there. Attila works outside and he feels it, it makes him very tired.

I have discovered that a quilted mattress pad under the fitted sheet does a world of good keeping you warm on cold nights. What is on top of you is important, but it seems that what is under you is even more important!

“How much good do you suppose condescending charity does?” Charles Dudley Warner

“Lots of people think they’re charitable if they give away their old clothes and things they don’t want. It isn’t charity to give away things you want to get rid of and it isn’t a sacrifice to do things you don’t mind doing.”

The extra insulation holds your body heat at night! Nice and cozy! As for the Grinch, well remember, even his heart grew 3 sizes in one day!

A delightful reminder crochetlady. Why yes, even a Grinch might grasp good will. Could happen! Another reason to keep smiling.

Another thing that is super-warming (too much so, in my experience) is a feather tick that goes under your bottom bedsheet. Soft and cosy as can be, it would be great on a cold night, but I couldn’t handle it when I tried one … and I’m a person who needs lots of blankets when I sleep.

Remember, that Grinch and the job he supplies are just stepping stones to something better. You are gaining experience that will be perfect for the next opportunity.
