Attila & Mist Read The Daily News

An Evening With Attlia and Mist: Reading the News

This morning the sun was shining! The snow was melting! By mid-afternoon the sky had clouded over, but the snow was still melting. At last, it seems that spring is actually going to arrive.

I am busy in the kitchen today. First thing this morning, after Attila left for work, I was busy adding all the ingredients for baked beans to the crockpot. By dinner time they will be ready for this week’s lunches. After cleaning for a while, I baked two loaves of bread. After that, while the oven was still hot, I mixed up the batter for an Orange Loaf and popped it into the oven. The clean up always takes a little bit longer than the preparation.

Caveat: Cook beans in a crockpot at your own risk, do it the right way. “Dried beans, especially kidney, contain a natural toxin. These toxins are easily destroyed by boiling. Safe steps for preparing would include soaking the beans for 12 hours, rinsing, and then boiling for at least 10 minutes, before adding the beans to a slow cooker.” University of Minnesota Extension

The manual for the new camera is very good. Configuration gets complicated as soon as the dial is moved away from the automated and preset functions. I’ll be sticking with those for the most part. I love to take pictures, but I do not have a passion for light. I think the inspired use of a camera presupposes a passion for light, and the absence of light. Also, I am not sure I can adjust to the restricted way the camera sees the world.

That’s the day then: cooking, baking, learning about the FinePix S4200 camera and working on genealogy sources. Now all that’s left of the day is the eating and reading part.

The camera eye sure doesn’t see the way the human eye sees things. I often have to do a lot of things to a photo to make it more like we see. I’m glad you’re enjoying your new camera.

So Attila and Mist read the news together. What I want to know is do they discuss it, too? One could get a cat’s eye view of the current craziness…I can just imagine what one of our friends-in-fur would say regarding various headlines.

Oh to get an idea what Attila looks like! What a treat!
