The Flu

The Flu

Attila has the flu! He has had sniffles and colds over the years, but this is the first time I have seen him truly ill. The fever started on Friday night. I noticed him sitting in an animated state in the easy chair. He was in a constant state of motion. It took me a while to realize that he was shivering. Off he went to bed, although it was early he fell asleep immediately.

Attila is a man who loves to sleep. He is very good at it. Last night he awoke hourly, arose to drink water, and to wander for a little while before returning to bed. Did this disturb my sleep? Not in the least, in fact, I slept like a rock. For once, the tables were turned; I slept soundly while he kept the night vigil. He has been sleeping off and on all day and is feeling much better. I am feeling a little "off", but so far have not come down with the bug.

We rented and watched the video "The Ice Storm", starring Kevin Cline. I like and respect Kevin Cline. This movie was not a venue to display his talents. The story portrays affluence and boredom in the upper middle class during the 1970s. Extramarital affairs and "key" parties are not very interesting human activities. At the very least, this movie is a good excuse to go to bed early and curl up with a good book.
