we are teetering on the edge of a heat wave!
I've been cold since last December. Tonight the low is predicted to be 11 C. If the humidex soars to 40 tomorrow I may go into a state of shock and confusion.
The bright side is that a heat wave just might kill off some of the mosquitoes; everyone here says they have never seen such thick stinging clouds of hungry mosquitoes. A reduction in the mosquito population would be more than welcome.
The down side is that I will be working through these hot days in an area that is not air conditioned. We will see how it goes! I am hoping we will be very busy at work and then I might not notice the heat... then again maybe I will notice. I do not do melting well.
Attila has had a cold and fever for the last few days. Now he is on the mend and I am coming down with the same bug. It feels like a hangover that has not been earned. I have a fever. Usually when I have a fever my mind works in mysterious and sometimes unpredictable ways. I think I am making perfect sense while writing this entry. Maybe I am, then again maybe I'm not. The cold should runs its course over the next few days, then I'll come back and read this to see how it went.
Life is very quiet here in the green, green, green forest. There is a constant drone of mosquitoes just outside the windows, and an occasional yellow jacket wasp finds his way into the living room. Then there is a merry chase, to be sure. I have no compassion for stinging insects.
A trip to the doctor's office today meant an hours drive there and back. My blood pressure is very good, and I have a renewed prescription for cholesterol lowering medication. And, since my father died, many years ago, of cancer of the bowel, an appointment for a colonoscopy is being arranged on my behalf. I feel I am in very good hands.
I managed to accomplish a whole list of additional tasks while in town, making the trip very worth while. A bag full of citronella candles and fly tape was carried out of the discount store and stashed in the trunk of the car. One luxury I splurged on is a headset for the mobile phone. Now I can talk and task at the same time. Of course, this means I would need to be talking to someone on the telephone. There's always something!
