Another sunny day, how lucky is that! Never mind that it is to start raining tomorrow and keep on going for days and days. The gardens will enjoy the rain, and when the garden is happy we are happy. Spring has arrived late and is struggling to make its presence known. We are waiting patiently for the world to unfold into green.

This morning I have put the final touches on a web site update and have uploaded the lot. Completion, on one project, can provide a sense of satisfaction. Never mind that it will need future updating and editing, that will come all in good time.

It is still quite cold out there and we have a fire on the go again this morning; what a difference it makes! It is a bit challenging to remember to feed it though, so how cold could I really be!

Last week Attila put up the clothes line, and he used it on the weekend to dry his clothes. This morning I am washing my first load to be dried out of doors. It is a perfect day for it, but really I should have gotten to it earlier, to give it enough time to dry thoroughly. As it is, I'm just now getting to it, mid-morning and will have to take the clothes down damp and finish the job in the dryer this evening. Oh well, it takes me a little while to get into my routines when the seasons change.

Last week Attila removed the stairs to our second floor deck. They were rotten and getting wobbly. The deck is newer but the previous owner used the original untreated wood to rebuild the stairs; not a good idea. They are gone now though, leaving a gaping hole in the railing. Attila plans to put up a new section of railing and forego steps altogether. I support this plan as the steps have served no purpose, and provide unwelcome access to the second story of the house; I am thinking bears here.

The bears have already been perusing the neighbourhood. The garbage bin across the street was left full of garbage last fall. Quite an alluring find for any self respecting bear. The container was tin lined and it is interesting to see that the bear has sliced through the tin and “opened the can”. Garbage is everywhere. I don't mind the garbage so much as the open invitation to dinner, that this sort of behaviour sends out to the local bear population. It is irresponsible and disrespectful to leave garbage in an area next to the bear's natural habitat.

Today I am busy cleaning the back kitchen and the screened in porch. They haven't had any attention since we began the heating season last fall. It is amazing how much dirt can accumulate over the course of six months!

Ah, Mist is letting me know in no uncertain terms that it is time for a good brushing. Then we will relax with a cup of tea and enjoy the sunshine.
